Our systems are stronger than any hurricane.
A proactive VPN solution kept critical operations online after a hurricane knocked power offline.

The Challenge
On October 10th, hurricane-force winds swept through Central Florida, causing a power outage for a large insurance services provider MSG has supported since 2009.
The outage immediately knocked out the client’s VPN access — their remote access system was hosted locally and had proven unreliable in the past. While brief outages had occurred before, the client had been hesitant to switch to MSG’s recommended cloud-based solution. This storm changed that.
The Solution
That same evening, MSG got to work. Our team rapidly implemented an AWS-hosted OpenVPN solution to remove the client’s dependency on local power infrastructure. By the next morning, new VPN instructions were released and our teams worked together to:
- Onboard users and troubleshoot credential issues
- Configure custom permissions for elevated access
- Collaborate with the integration team to fine-tune VPN roles for production support
We provided hands-on support to every individual who needed help and ensured secure, seamless connections to production systems, development environments and third-party tools.
The Results
The upgrade meant more than restoring access — it made the client storm-resilient moving forward. They now have:
- Permanent off-site access independent of physical power at any one location
- Stable connectivity to critical business systems like FTP management, accounting feeds, SQL databases and third-party underwriting tools
- Renewed confidence in the scalability and reliability of their tech infrastructure
In a matter of hours, MSG turned a major outage into a lasting upgrade — and ensured this team wouldn’t be left in the dark again.
