Our team did what 9 million systems failed to do.
Our proactive protection kept an insurance software provider online while millions of systems failed.

The Challenge
On July 19, 2024, a faulty update from security vendor CrowdStrike triggered a massive wave of outages, crashing more than 9 million Windows virtual machines and Azure cloud environments across the country. One of MSG’s long-time clients — a trusted provider of specialized software solutions for insurance carriers and agents — was at risk.
Their local Sage Server, which used CrowdStrike, was impacted. But the rest of clients infrastructure? Still standing.
The Solution
Managed Services Group has partnered with this client since 2009, supporting their network management, security posture and day-to-day operations. That long-term relationship paid off during the crisis.
Because MSG had already deployed ThreatDown by Malwarebytes across all other servers and workstations, the CrowdStrike failure didn’t touch the rest of the system. Only the local Sage Server was affected — and MSG immediately stepped in to test, contain and monitor the situation.
Our actions included:
- Rapid threat defense and containment of the affected server
- Proactive system monitoring to verify no secondary impacts
- Direct support and recovery assistance for the single compromised endpoint
The Results
In the face of a widespread crisis, MSG restored confidence in the client’s security architecture and delivered stability, speed and full support when it mattered most.
- Zero data loss
- Zero productivity impact
- 100% uptime across all MSG-managed infrastructure
